From the cost-effective Fire TV stick to the premium Fire TV Cube, you can find something to fit your unique streaming needs. You can learn more about all the options available in our Amazon streaming device review.

In this post, we give you a detailed guide on how to get the Amazon Plex app and access your personal media library as well as the Plex content offering.

What is Plex?

Plex doubles up as a content organization and streaming tool. You can use the service to upload your native media files and store them in one place for easy access. The best part is that you can access the same content from any device that's running a Plex app.

So let's say you upload files from your computer using the Plex web app, and a few days later, you want to watch a certain video using your Amazon Fire TV Stick. In this case, you can access Plex on Fire Stick using the Plex Fire TV app and then stream the video you want to watch.

In addition to this, the service also offers 1000+ titles to stream for free. But you can upgrade to a paid version of the service to get access to even better features. For $4.99/mo., you can even get 80+ live TV channels on top of everything else. Learn more about how the service works and what it offers in our Plex review.

Alternatively, you can also upgrade to a paid Plex Pass plan for $4.99/mo. This gives you access to live TV streaming and Plex Pass Perks such as deals and discounts, previews and VIP experiences. You can also pay $39.99/yr. for the annual Plex Pass plan. But the best offer is the $119.99 one-time payment that gives you a lifetime Plex Pass membership.

Our hot take

Plex offers an excellent solution for those with an expansive native media collection, with Amazon Fire TV devices being the perfect way to access it. But while the service offers a decent selection of free content, this lineup doesn't really compare to that of Amazon Prime, Hulu or Netflix. So if you want to enjoy a robust and comprehensive online streaming service, you might want to try out these options instead.
